Mustang
The Ford Mustang is perhaps the most iconic of the muscle cars, and the all-new 2026 Mustang marks an evolution of this classic, combining its timeless spirit with modern design, cutting-edge technology, and raw performance. The beloved Pony Car builds on its heritage with fresh styling details, a more extensive roster of packages, and multiple powertrain options – including the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever installed in a production Mustang. The new-but-nostalgic FX Package outfits the GT Premium with a retro look that pays homage to the nameplate’s Fox Body era, with special Oxford White wheels and other elements. New paint colors – Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat and Adriatic Blue Metallic – have been added for buyers who like something a little different. A sculpted hood, wide track, and eye-catching grille bring a visual punch, while the available convertible body style offers the drop-top freedom that many Mustang fans can’t live without. Inside, dual-zone automatic climate control and SiriusXM are standard across the lineup. The EcoBoost Premium and GT Premium now come with memory for the driver’s seat and side mirrors and remote start. Vibrant new seat belt colors, Black with Red Stripe, International Orange, and Prime Blue, join the iconic Race Red option this year to add eye-catching contrast.

The 2026 Mustang has six trims to choose from: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, Dark Horse, and Dark Horse Premium. The two EcoBoost models, as their names suggest, pair a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine (315 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque) with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The GT and GT Premium upgrade to a 5-liter V8 that makes 480 horsepower and 418 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission with rev-matching comes standard on the GT trims, but a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters is available. The Dark Horse and Dark Horse Premium harness a naturally aspirated modified 5-liter Coyote V8, which increases output to 500 horsepower while retaining the GT’s 418 lb.-ft. of torque. The aforementioned 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters completes the top powertrain, but a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission is available.
The EcoBoost trims lead the lineup in fuel economy, returning an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. The GT trims achieve 15 city/23 highway with their standard manual transmission, increasing slightly to 16 city/24 highway mpg with the automatic transmission. Both Dark Horse trims reach 14 city/22 highway mpg with either transmission.
All automatic transmission Mustangs have a limited-slip rear axle with a 3.15 ratio on the EcoBoost and a 3.55 ratio on the GT. The Dark Horse trims come with a 3.55 Torsen limited-slip rear axle for the automatic transmission and a 3.73 Torsen limited-slip rear axle for the manual transmission. Launch control and electronic line-lock are standard, and the Dark Horse trims incorporate a class-first drift brake. Every Mustang rides on double-ball-joint MacPherson front struts with aluminum control arms and integral-link independent rear suspension with coil springs (both with stabilizer bars). The EcoBoost and GT trims complete their suspension with hydraulic, gas-pressurized, outboard-mounted dampers, while the Dark Horse is equipped with a MagneRide damping system and heavy-duty front springs.
The EcoBoosts have 12.5-inch brake rotors with single-piston rear calipers and dual-piston front calipers. The GTs retain the single-piston rear calipers but get 13-inch rotors, paired with 14-inch front rotors with four-piston calipers, while the Dark Horses move up to Brembo six-piston calipers. All of the aforementioned Dark Horse performance specs are available on the GT trims via the GT Performance Package. The Dark Horse trims themselves are eligible for adjustable strut top mounts, front towing hooks, a magnetic damping system, a front aero splitter, a rear spoiler with a Gurney flap, and revised chassis tuning through the Dark Horse Handling Package. The EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, and GT Premium are offered in both fastback and convertible designs, while the rest of the lineup is fastback only.
