It’s easy to call the Ford Mustang the most iconic of the muscle cars, and the all-new 2026 edition marks an evolution of this always-evocative classic. Although this is not a redesign year, Ford’s designers have made some significant changes, focusing on complementing the model’s timeless spirit with modern design, cutting-edge technology, and raw performance in this latest version. The beloved Pony Car builds on its heritage with a new trim, fresh styling details, and a more extensive roster of packages, along with multiple powertrain options – including the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever installed in a production Mustang.
The already extensive lineup grows with the introduction of the performance-forward Dark Horse SC, a race-bred version of the formerly range-topping Dark Horse. The high-output newcomer – designed to bridge the gap between the Dark Horse trim and the track-ready GTD variant – boasts a roaring 5.2-liter cross-plane crank V8 that delivers 795 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque, coupled with a TREMEC 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also gets Brembo brakes, a carbon-fiber driveshaft, and a leather-trimmed interior, along with a range of available packages offering everything from Recaro performance seats to a deployable rear track wing.
Elsewhere in the lineup, the new-but-nostalgic FX Package outfits the GT Premium with a retro look that pays homage to the nameplate’s Fox Body era, with special Oxford White wheels and other elements. New paint colors called Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat and Adriatic Blue Metallic have been added along with vibrant new seat belt colors: Black with Red Stripe, International Orange, and Prime Blue.
