2025 Ford Expedition
2025 Ford
Expedition
The refreshed Ford Expedition welcomes its first-ever Tremor edition to the 2025 lineup. This trail-ready
edition brings enhanced capabilities to the full-sized SUV, including higher ground clearance, hefty
all-terrain tires, and a high-output, twin-turbo V6 engine. Unique exterior treatments and advanced
off-road technology make the Tremor the most adventure-capable Expedition to date.
As far as the
other aspects of the refresh, Ford’s flagship SUV has been substantially updated on the outside,
highlighting a modern design language. Inside, the 2025 Expedition boasts an all-new cabin incorporating
a massive 24-inch panoramic digital display instead of the traditional instrument cluster. This
cutting-edge display seamlessly integrates into the dashboard, providing the driver with next-level
information access.
Another notable addition to the 2025 Expedition is the innovative Ford Split
Gate. This tailgate design combines the best aspects of a traditional SUV liftgate with the versatility
of a pickup truck tailgate. The result is easier access to the cargo area and a more flexible platform
for outdoor activities. The third row also receives an upgrade with the introduction of the Flexible
Seating system, which allows independent folding of the middle seat to create a center aisle for better
cargo management.
Trims and Powertrain
Ford offers four versions of the 2025 Expedition: Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch. All of them
have a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 powerplant, with most versions getting a 400-horsepower version. A
high-output 440-horsepower edition is standard with the Tremor and optional for the Platinum. Rear-wheel
drive (RWD) comes standard on the Active, with four-wheel drive (4WD) optional; the higher trims all get
standard 4WD. A ten-speed automatic transmission controls both drivetrains. All trims but the Tremor are
available in the extended-length Expedition Max variant, which is 11.9 inches longer than the
standard.
The 2025 Expedition can tow 6,100 to 9,600 pounds, depending on the powertrain, length,
and equipment. The maximum cargo space (behind the front row) for the regular-length Expedition is 108.5
cubic feet. The capacity changes to 60.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 21.6 cubic feet when all
seats are used. The Expedition Max offers 123.1, 75.4, or 36.1 cubic feet, respectively. The base engine
returns an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in city driving and 24 mpg on the highway. Fuel economy information
isn’t yet available for the high-output powerplant.
Standard Features
The eight-seat Active trim focuses on the essentials and also includes several above-and-beyond
conveniences, such as tri-zone automatic climate control, a ten-way power driver’s seat, an eight-way
power front passenger seat, a driver’s memory system, a 24-inch panoramic instrumentation display, a
60/40 power-folding third-row seat, running boards, and rear privacy glass. Fabric upholstery, a
heavy-duty tow package (4WD only), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch aluminum wheels are also
on the standard equipment list. The Platinum moves up to perforated leather upholstery (first and second
rows), power-folding second-row captain’s chairs (for a seven-person total seating capacity), heated
first- and second-row seats, power running boards, power-folding heated side mirrors (auto-dimming on
the driver’s side), power-adjustable pedals with memory, side roof rails, ambient cabin lighting, and
20-inch black-finished wheels.
The Tremor makes its Expedition debut with enhanced equipment like
an expanded 4WD system featuring an exclusive Rock Crawl mode. It also gets underbody shielding, an
electronic locking rear differential, unique exterior treatments, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering
column, a power-sliding center console, a digital key, a keyless entry keypad, and 18-inch aluminum
wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires. The King Ranch puts a western-themed luxury spin on the 2025
Expedition with Del Rio Leather upholstery in all rows, additional interior leather treatments, a
continuous-control damping suspension, unique bronze-finish exterior treatments, and 22-inch wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
All 2025 Expedition trims have the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 system for the most up-to-date driver-aid technologies. This suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a lane-keeping system (lane-keeping alert, lane-keeping assist, and road edge protection), blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, intersection assist, reverse brake assist, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, driver alert, and automatic high beams. Every Expedition also has a surround-view monitor, BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology with a trial subscription, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview monitor with camera washer, and trailer backup and hitch assist. The Platinum and above get enhanced intersection assist and driver state detection.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Every 2025 Expedition trim has a high-resolution 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system to keep the driver and passengers connected. Dubbed the Ford Digital Experience, this advanced infotainment system features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, 911 Assist, and Alexa built-in; numerous apps, including Google Maps and Google Assistant, are readily accessible. All trims come with a one-year subscription to the Ford Connectivity Package, providing an unlimited 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, audio streaming, Google Maps, and other services. The default audio system comes with six speakers, which is upgraded to a ten-speaker Bang & Olufsen arrangement in the Platinum and Tremor. The King Ranch gets the ultimate: a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup.
