There are five trims for the 2025 Maverick: XL, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, and Lobo. All versions have a four-door crew cab with seating for five. The first three get a four-cylinder 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that produces 191 combined horsepower and is teamed with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). A 238-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission are optional on these trims and standard with the Tremor and Lobo. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) is included with the XL, XLT, and Lariat. All-wheel drive (AWD) is optional with the hybrid configuration and standard with the turbo engine.
The 2025 Maverick’s towing capacity ranges up to 4,000 pounds, with properly equipped hybrid editions now able to reach that limit. Ford and the EPA hadn’t released complete fuel economy ratings as of this writing. Last model year’s FWD hybrid Maverick carried estimated ratings of 40 mpg around town and 33 mpg on the highway.
The XL gets an excellent base-level equipment list with fabric upholstery, rear under-seat bins, LED headlights with automatic on/off, 17-inch steel wheels with covers, a mini spare tire, USB ports, and a 4.5-foot cargo bed with six tie-down points and a multi-position tailgate. The XLT adds Navy Pier upholstery, push-button start, extra cargo-area storage and tie-downs, a power tailgate lock, wiper-activated LED headlamps, a 2K trailer hitch receiver, power side mirrors, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
The Lariat takes things upscale with ActiveX upholstery, a power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-sliding rear window, dual rear USB ports, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The Tremor’s off-pavement abilities come from an off-road-tuned suspension, a lockable rear differential, Ford Trail Control (for improved low-speed traction), an elevated ride height, a conventional spare tire, and 17-inch all-terrain tires. This trim also gets a heated steering wheel, ActiveX upholstery, wireless device charging, and ambient cabin lighting.
The Lobo gives the Maverick a new twist. Starting with the XLT’s features as a baseline, this trim adds a lower suspension, a power moonroof, a heated steering wheel, unique exterior treatments, ActiveX upholstery, exclusive cabin accents, dual-zone automatic climate control, sound-reducing windshield glass, a power-sliding rear window, wireless device charging, dual rear USB ports, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. Several optional packages and individual options are offered to further equip the 2025 Maverick.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard across the 2025 Maverick lineup and includes automatic emergency braking, a lane-keeping aid, and automatic high beams. The Lariat and above add automatic braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping alert, and rear parking sensors; those technologies are optional on the XL and XLT. The Lariat and higher are also upgraded with adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, speed sign recognition, and intersection assist.
All 2025 Maverick trims now have a standard 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. It’s supported by Ford’s SYNC4 system with a wireless phone connection, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, an audio system with six speakers, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and FordPass Connect. The Lariat and above are loaded, getting navigation and an eight-speaker B&O sound system.
