Trims and Powertrain

Ford will offer four versions of the 2025 Expedition: Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch. All of them will have a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 powerplant under the hood, with most getting a 400-horsepower version under the hood. A high-output 440-horsepower edition is slated to come standard with the Tremor and be optional for the Platinum. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) will be standard on the Active, with four-wheel drive (4WD) optional for that trim and included on the higher trims. Every ’25 Expedition will have a ten-speed automatic transmission. All but the Tremor will be available in the extended-length Expedition Max body, which adds 11.9 inches to the length.

The 2025 Expedition will be able to tow 6,100 to 9,300 pounds, depending on the powertrain and length. The maximum cargo space (behind the front row) for the regular-length Expedition is 108.5 cubic feet. The capacity changes to 60.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 21.6 cubic feet when all rows have passengers. The Expedition Max’s respective cargo capacities are 123.1, 75.4, or 36.1 cubic feet.

Standard Features

While the eight-seat Active trim will focus on the essentials, it’s expected to have some above-and-beyond conveniences, such as tri-zone automatic climate control, a ten-way power driver’s seat, an eight-way power front passenger seat, a driver’s position memory system, a 24-inch panoramic instrumentation display, a 60/40 power-folding third-row seat, running boards, and rear privacy glass. Its other standard features should include fabric upholstery, a heavy-duty tow package (4WD only), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch aluminum wheels.

The anticipated upgrades for the Platinum include power-folding second-row captain’s chairs (for a seven-person maximum seating capacity), perforated leather upholstery (first and second rows), heated first- and second-row seats, power running boards, power-folding heated side mirrors (with auto-dimming on the driver’s side), power-adjustable pedals with memory, side roof rails, ambient cabin lighting, and 20-inch black-finished wheels.

The new Tremor trim will hit the road and the trail with enhanced equipment like an expanded 4WD system with an exclusive Rock Crawl mode, 33-inch all-terrain tires, underbody shielding, and an electronic locking rear differential. Ford will also give it unique exterior treatments, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a power-sliding center console, a digital key, a keyless entry keypad, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The King Ranch will put a western-themed luxury spin on the 2025 Expedition with Del Rio Leather upholstery in all rows, additional interior leather treatments, a continuous-control damping suspension, unique bronze-finished exterior treatments, and 22-inch wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All 2025 Expedition trims will host the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 system for the latest in driver assist technology. You can expect this suite to include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, a lane-keeping system (lane-keeping alert, lane-keeping assist, and road edge protection), blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, intersection assist, reverse brake assist, evasive steer assist, adaptive cruise control, driver alert, and automatic high beams. The Expedition also has a surround-view monitor, BlueCruise hands-free highway driving (with a trial subscription), front and rear parking sensors, a rearview monitor with camera wash, and trailer backup and hitch assist. The Platinum and above will get enhanced intersection assist and driver state detection.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Every 2025 Expedition trim will rely on a high-resolution 13.2-inch touchscreen to keep the driver and passengers up-to-date and connected. Dubbed the Ford Digital Experience, this advanced infotainment system features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, 911 Assist, and Alexa built-in. Numerous other apps, including Google Maps and Google Assistant, will be readily accessible.

All trims will also get a one-year subscription for the Ford Connectivity Package for an unlimited 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, audio and video streaming, Google Maps, and other services. The Active trim will get a six-speaker audio system, upgraded to a ten-speaker Bang & Olufsen arrangement in the Platinum and Tremor. The King Ranch is expected to deliver sound through a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen system.
