Trims and Powertrain

Ford offers four versions of the 2025 Expedition: Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch. All of them have a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 powerplant, with most versions getting a 400-horsepower version. A high-output 440-horsepower edition is standard with the Tremor and optional for the Platinum. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes standard on the Active, with four-wheel drive (4WD) optional; the higher trims all get standard 4WD. A ten-speed automatic transmission controls both drivetrains. All trims but the Tremor are available in the extended-length Expedition Max variant, which is 11.9 inches longer than the standard.

The 2025 Expedition can tow 6,100 to 9,600 pounds, depending on the powertrain, length, and equipment. The maximum cargo space (behind the front row) for the regular-length Expedition is 108.5 cubic feet. The capacity changes to 60.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 21.6 cubic feet when all seats are used. The Expedition Max offers 123.1, 75.4, or 36.1 cubic feet, respectively. The base engine returns an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in city driving and 24 mpg on the highway. Fuel economy information isn’t yet available for the high-output powerplant.

Standard Features

The eight-seat Active trim focuses on the essentials and also includes several above-and-beyond conveniences, such as tri-zone automatic climate control, a ten-way power driver’s seat, an eight-way power front passenger seat, a driver’s memory system, a 24-inch panoramic instrumentation display, a 60/40 power-folding third-row seat, running boards, and rear privacy glass. Fabric upholstery, a heavy-duty tow package (4WD only), an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch aluminum wheels are also on the standard equipment list. The Platinum  moves up to perforated leather upholstery (first and second rows), power-folding second-row captain’s chairs (for a seven-person total seating capacity), heated first- and second-row seats, power running boards, power-folding heated side mirrors (auto-dimming on the driver’s side), power-adjustable pedals with memory, side roof rails, ambient cabin lighting, and 20-inch black-finished wheels.

It also gets underbody shielding, an electronic locking rear differential, unique exterior treatments, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a power-sliding center console, a digital key, a keyless entry keypad, and 18-inch aluminum wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires. Dubbed the Ford Digital Experience, this advanced infotainment system features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, 911 Assist, and Alexa built-in; numerous apps, including Google Maps and Google Assistant, are readily accessible. All trims come with a one-year subscription to the Ford Connectivity Package, providing an unlimited 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, audio streaming, Google Maps, and other services.
