The 2025 Bronco Sport has five versions: Big Bend, Heritage, Free Wheeling, Outer Banks, and Badlands. A 181-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine motivates most trims, although the Badlands gets a lively 238-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder instead. Both powerplants are paired with a four-wheel drivetrain (4WD) and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Towing capacity ranges from 2,200 pounds for the base engine to 2,700 pounds for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost. Cargo space varies by equipment and trim, but it maxes out at 65.2 cubic feet (32.5 cubic feet behind the second row). Although we didn’t have access to the 2025 fuel economy estimates at the time of this writing, the previous model year’s Bronco Sport with n the base engine was rated to return 25 mpg around town and 28 mpg on the highway. That fuel economy changed to 21 mpg city/26 mpg highway with the larger engine.
The Big Bend is ready for the road and beyond with a five-mode all-terrain management system, single-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, LED headlights, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and a manual liftgate with flip-up rear glass. This entry-level trim also has a 12.3-inch digital driver information display, heated side mirrors, rear privacy glass, a rear air duct, a manual tilt-and-telescopic steering column, wireless device charging, USB ports, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Buyers looking for a more dynamic-looking version of the Big Bend will find the retro-vibe of the Free Wheeling edition on target. Its sunset-themed exterior graphics package, coordinating woven upholstery, exclusive cabin treatments, and red-accented 17-inch aluminum wheels signal this is no ordinary Bronco Sport. The Heritage puts a different spin on the Big Bend by paying homage to the original 1966 Bronco by way of its Oxford White roof, retro-style side decals, exclusive plaid fabric upholstery, and Oxford White-painted 17-inch wheels. The Outer Banks trim takes the Bronco Sport in an upscale direction with a second automatic climate control zone, leatherette- and fabric-trimmed seating, heated front seats, a heated and wrapped steering wheel, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a six-way power front passenger seat, key fob-based remote start, LED fog lights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch wheels.
Meanwhile, the Badlands transforms the Bronco Sport into more of an off-road machine while still offering premium amenities. This top-of-the-line edition boasts an advanced 4WD system with enhanced torque control, a seven-mode all-terrain management system, underbody protection, a transmission oil cooler, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Its many comfort and convenience features include perforated leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated and steering wheel wrapped with premium material, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a six-way power front passenger’s seat, a driver’s position memory system, power-folding side mirrors, key fob-based remote start, LED fog lights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Co-Pilot360 Assist+, Ford’s latest suite of advanced driver-assist technologies, is installed on all Bronco Sport trims. Those technologies consist of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping alert, lane-keeping assist, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic braking, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams. The Badlands gets an upgraded system with a surround-view monitor, reverse brake assist, and front parking sensors. The foundational safety equipment in the ’25 Bronco Sport includes an array of airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor.
The 2025 Bronco Sport has a class-leading 13.2-inch touchscreen running Ford’s latest SYNC 4 system. The platform supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to Ford’s connected services. A sound system with six speakers handles the audio delivery. The Outer Banks and Badlands trims can be upgraded with connected navigation and a ten-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
