Powertrain and Performance

Powering the ’24 Escape PHEV is a rechargeable hybrid powerplant composed of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a single electric motor. Together, they put out 210 hp. This plug-in setup is accompanied by a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that directs power to the front wheels. When the Escape PHEV is properly equipped, it can tow up to 1,500 pounds. This model’s fuel economy ratings are impressive, with the EPA estimating a combined return of 101 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent). When its battery is fully charged, the Escape PHEV can travel up to 37 fully electric miles before the gas engine kicks in and the vehicle begins running like a conventional hybrid.
