The 2024 Bronco Sport comes in five trim levels with appealing names: Big Bend, Heritage, Free Wheeling, Outer Banks, and Badlands. The brand’s 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that’s found in most trims produces 181 hp and 190 lb.-ft. of torque. The Badlands gets the heartier 2.0-liter EcoBoost, which generates 250 hp and 277 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all trims come standard with four-wheel drive. As for towing, Bronco Sports with the 1.5-liter EcoBoost and Class II Trailer Tow Package can pull up to 2,000 pounds, whereas those with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost/Trailer Tow Package combo max out at 2,200 lb.
The Big Bend has a safari-style roof, LED headlights, heated side mirrors, rear privacy glass, a manual liftgate with flip-up glass and a pair of flood lights, a rear-hatch bottle opener, and proximity keyless entry. Some of its other highlights are push-button start, automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch gauge cluster, Ford’s Terrain Management System with five G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any Terrain), and a 60/40-split second-row seatback. The Heritage trim (which evokes the nostalgia of the original 1966 Bronco) flaunts a more retro aesthetic with its Oxford White accents, red Bronco lettering, and plaid cloth upholstery. Aside from that, it’s equipped with LED fog lights.
The real attention-getter is the debuting Free Wheeling trim, which has red, orange, and yellow exterior side graphics, a silver grille with two-color Bronco lettering, and sunset-colored cloth seats with ombre stitching. The Outer Banks concentrates on comfort features with remote start, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6.5-inch LCD gauge cluster, ambient interior lighting, position memory for the driver’s seat and side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 110V power outlet, leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The most off-road oriented of the bunch is the Badlands. Although it lacks some of the Outer Banks’ more luxurious features, many of them are available as options. This hardcore trim is also reinforced with metal bash plates, an off-road suspension, an advanced 4WD system with a twin-clutch rear drive unit, Trail Control (Ford’s proprietary off-road cruise control system), a 180-degree front-view camera, front tow hooks, and two additional G.O.A.T. modes.
The Ford Co-Pilot360 Technology Package (which groups an array of advanced driving aids) is standard in each trim. All are provided with pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. If you’re looking for greater peace of mind and convenience, the available Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ Package will deliver adaptive cruise control, lane centering, speed sign recognition, and evasive steering assist. Rear parking sensors are standard in the Outer Banks and available on the other trims.
Every ’24 Bronco Sport gets Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker sound system. While navigation is optional across the board, the Outer Banks and Badlands are the only trims eligible for a premium 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
If you’re looking to enhance your Bronco Sport, you can do so with its array of prominent upgrade packages. Some of the most notable among them include the new Black Appearance Package, the Convenience Package, the Tech Package, and the Black Diamond Off-Road Package. The Black Appearance Package (offered for the Big Bend) is mostly aesthetic and blacks out the entire exterior, but it also supplies sport-contoured bucket seats.
The Convenience Package for the Big Bend, Heritage, and Free Wheeling provides heated front seats with driver’s power adjustments, LED fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, a universal garage door opener, and rear parking sensors. The Tech Package for the Outer Banks and Badlands will layer in a series of luxuries, including a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, HD radio, a wireless phone charger, and a universal home remote. The Black Diamond Off-Road Package outfits the Big Bend and Outer Banks with underbody protection, Black Diamond graphics, and grey-painted wheels.
