Ford manufactures the F-150 Lightning in four trims: PRO, XLT, LARIAT, and Platinum. All include two electric motors paired with all-wheel drive, but there are two battery options: Standard Range (98kWh) or Extended Range (131kWh). The Extended Range battery produces 580 horsepower and 775 pounds-feet of peak torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph in under four seconds. The driver can select from various modes (Normal, Tow/Haul, Sport, and Off-road) for specific situations.
The Extended Range battery supplies an EPA-estimated range of up to 320 miles for the XLT and LARIAT; the Platinum has a range reaching 300 miles. With the Standard Range battery, the EPA-estimated range is 240 miles. In just 36 minutes, the 98-kWh battery receives an 80% charge using a 150-kW+ DC fast charger, while the 131-kWh battery only takes 41 minutes. The payload capacity ranges from 1,656 to 2,235 depending on the trim level, while the maximum towing capacity is 5,000 lb. with the Standard Range battery and 10,000 lb. with the Extended Range battery and Max Tow Package. Keep in mind that towing or hauling considerable weight requires extra power, which will reduce the F-150 Lightning’s overall range.
The Pro has four-way adjustable heated front seats, a 12-inch instrument cluster display, a navigation system, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 60/40 flip-up rear bench, trailer sway control, skid plates, a Class IV trailer hitch receiver, a locking rear differential, and 18-inch black high-gloss machined wheels. The XLT adds an 8-way power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an interior work surface, heated side mirrors with integrated turn indicators, running boards, the BoxLink cargo management system, and a geometric gray-ion Satin Metallic grille with signature front lighting.
The Lariat brings things upscale with leather upholstery, 10-way power heated and ventilated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, wireless device charging, ambient interior lighting, a power tailgate with unique rear lighting, a tailgate step, a tailgate work surface, LED mirror-mounted spotlights, and 20-inch alloy wheels with a Dark Carbonized Gray finish. At the peak of the Lightning range, the Platinum has a twin-panel moonroof, Nirvana leather front bucket seats, rear heated seats, authentic wood interior trim accents, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and 22-inch Ebony Black machined wheels.
With the standard Ford Co-Pilot360â„¢ suite of driver-assist technologies, the F-150 Lightning receives automatic high beams, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, forward automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Added at the XLT level are a surround-view camera, evasive steering assist, front parking sensors, and traffic sign recognition. The two highest trims add adaptive cruise control. The Platinum also gets parking assist and BlueCruise for hands-free driving on compatible roads (the Lariat is eligible for this option).
The Pro is outfitted with the 12-inch touchscreen SYNC 4 infotainment system, which features voice recognition, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a six-speaker stereo. The XLT upgrades with SiriusXM satellite radio, while the Lariat gets a more advanced SYNC 4A system with a 15.5-inch touchscreen and an 8-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. The Platinum adds an HD Radio and an 18-speaker stereo.
