Versions, Output, and Range

The 2023 Ford E-Transit is a two-passenger rear-wheel drive utility van that is sold in three configurations – Cutaway, Chassis Cab, and Cargo Van – and medium, long, and extended body lengths. The Cargo Van differs in that it has a built-in work/storage area, and so buyers of that version can choose a low, medium, or high roof. The E-Transit’s single electric motor makes a hearty 266 hp and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. With the low-roof Cargo Van, this electric motor has a peak estimated driving range of 126 miles, while the medium-roof gets 116 miles and the high-roof 108 miles.

Cargo and Payload

Because there are multiple Cargo Van configurations, their storage dimensions vary. For example, the low-roof regular length model provides a maximum cargo volume of 280.9 cubic feet; with the medium roof, it allows 358.7 cu. ft. The low-roof long model provides 311.9 cu. ft., while the medium-roof long model offers 400.5 cu. ft. The high-roof long model delivers 453.4 cu. ft., but if you want access to the most space, the high-roof-exclusive extended model boasts 536.4 cu. ft. of total cargo space.

Regarding payload, the regular-length Cargo Van with the low roof is rated for a 3,880-lb. maximum. The low-roof extended-length Cutaway flaunts a 4,513-lb. limit, while the low-roof extended-length Chassis Cab can carry up to 4,476 lb.

Cutaway and Chassis Cab Amenities

The Cutaway and Chassis Cab E-Transits come with many of the same features, including automatic headlights and high beams, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, two 12-volt power outlets, Ford Pro E-Telematics business management software, and SYNC 4 infotainment with a 12-inch touchscreen and voice recognition. A handful of active driving aids are issued, too, such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, post-collision braking, and lane-keeping assist.

As for options, you’ll be able to choose from power-adjustable short- or long-arm side mirrors with turn-signal indicators (long arm mirrors can also be ordered with heating), wiper-activated headlights, fog lights, a front overhead shelf, regular or adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and HD radio. The most notable option, however, is Pro Power OnBoard. This 120-volt generator can charge power tools and other electric equipment without an inverter, making the lives of contractors more convenient.

Cargo Van Amenities

Thanks to its integrated cargo area, this version presents a more unique set of features. While it comes with most of the Cutaway’s and Chassis Cab’s standard items, the Cargo Van is differentiated by its 180-degree opening 50/50 hinged rear door and sliding passenger-side door. In addition to the optional amenities mentioned above, the Cargo Van is eligible for running boards, a 253-degree opening door, a 60/40 hinged passenger-side door (for the low roof model only), a keyless entry keypad, proximity entry (Intelligent Access), push-button ignition, a 360-degree camera, reverse brake assist, blind-spot assist, reverse and side sensing systems, and enhanced active park assist.
